Curator's note

Magneto, created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, first appearing in The X-Men #1 (1963). Born Max Eisenhardt, his imprisonment at Auschwitz as a child hardened into a lifelong conviction that mutantkind must never again be rounded up without a fight, setting him against Charles Xavier's more hopeful vision. This piece depicts his design from X-Men '97 (2024), the animated revival in which Xavier's own will names Magneto his successor to lead the team.
